Seng I, Ling

Teaching assistant and research assistant at Captial Normal University (Beijing, China)

Dr. Ling was born in Macau. She began playing violin and piano at the age of seven and studied under Professor Chen Yun, principal of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Professor Michael Ma, director of the strings department at the Hong Kong Academy Performing Arts, and Mr. Chen Chun of the Macao Orchestra. She started learning harp at the age of eleven and studied under Ms. Li Liqun of the Macao Orchestra.


Dr. Ling holds a bachelor's and master's degree in violin performance from the Central Conservatory of Music, where she studied under Professor Xu Lv. During her studies at the Central Conservatory of Music, she was awarded the title of "Excellent Student" and "Merit Student" and won the Central Conservatory of Music's Special Scholarship Award for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Overseas Students. During her master's and doctoral studies, she has been awarded the "Graduate Scholarship" by the Macao Special Administrative Region.


In 2014, Dr. Ling won the Silver Medal (Gold Medal vacancy) and the Most Popular Judges Award at the 3rd Japan Hong Kong International Music Competition and was invited to participate in the music festival in Japan. The same year, she also won the Excellence Award for Violin Solo at the HKGNA Music Competition. In 2020, she won the Excellence Award for Violin Solo at the International Chinese and Spanish Music Competition (Concurso Internacional de Música Chino-Española). She has successfully held many violin recitals and also participated in various music festivals and concerts with the China Youth Symphony Orchestra at the National Grand Theater, such as International Chamber Music Festival, Beijing Youth Art Festival, etc.


In recent years, Dr. Ling has been frequently invited to present Chinese and English individual paper at international and domestic music academic conferences, such as the "36th International Society for Music Education World Conference Helsinki (2024 )", "14th Asia-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Research Seoul (2023 )", "The 3rd Music Education Conference of the Chinese Society of Education 2023", "2022 Seminar on the Development of Aesthetic Education and Music Education Disciplines", "The Second High-end Forum on Comparative Music Education (2021)". Her articles have been published in conference procedure and academic journals. At the same time, she has participated in the research of national key projects and the compilation of music textbooks, and actively promoted the research and practice of Chinese music education.
